The Clinic offers hospital facilities for small animals and horses, and does farm calls for horses and cattle.

Dr. Uli Helvoigt

Uli is originally from southern Germany and moved to the interior of British Columbia in 1989.  She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry from UBC/UCC, and then continued on to get her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Uli has been involved in all kinds of  activities from endurance and competitive trail riding, natural horsemanship, jumping and dressage to dog agility, flyball and obedience training, to marathon running and mountain biking.  She is currently working on teaching her Canadian horse ‘Pippin’ to jump and do basic dressage and enjoys playing with her Arabian ‘Hal’ whenever she gets the chance.  Uli has done advanced training in both equine and small animal dentistry (dogs and cats) and has completed a veterinary chiropractic course.  In her free time Uli spends as much time as possible with her family – husband Nathan and children Oliver and Miranda. Tanglefoot Veterinary Services Ltd. was launched in the spring of 2009.

Dr. Denise Peebles

Denise is originally from Calgary, Alberta but has called Cranbrook and Kimberley home for the last 11 years. She completed a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, and spent one year of that degree at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. Denise completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She worked as a small animal veterinarian for Cranbrook Veterinary Hospital for 8 years before joining the Tanglefoot team in March of 2010. Denise has completed additional training in small animal dentistry and basic ultrasound. Denise lives in Kimberley with her husband, 3 young boys, a dog, a cat and a horse. She loves skiing, hiking, camping, biking, canoeing and living in the beautiful Kootenays.
Dr. Joanna Kouwenberg
Dr. Joanna KouwenbergVeterinarian
Dr Joanna Kouwenberg is from Prince George BC, but completed High School in Abbotsford. Joanna attained an Animal Science Degree at U.B.C. and her Veterinary degree W.C.V.M. in Saskatoon SK, later doing an internship at Gilbert, Arizona. She then went on to practice as an equine veterinarian in Colorado Springs, CO.

Joanna and her family have been in Cranbrook for the last 4 years. In her free time Joanna likes to ride her horse Ditto, cross country ski, knit and do woodwork.

Angie
AngieAnimal Health Technicians
Angie is another one of our Animal Health Technicians. She graduated from Fairview College in 1997 and has worked in Williams Lake, Whitehorse, Cranbrook Vet Clinic and is now with us at Tanglefoot. Angie and her husband live in Jaffray with their three daughters, a cat, a dog and 3 ½ horses.
Leanne
LeanneAnimal Health Technician
Leeanne has worked at Tanglefoot Vet Service as an Animal Health Technician for 3 years. She graduated from Lakeland College at Vermillion, AB in 2005. Leeanne and her Husband Gerry moved from Calgary to Cranbrook 3 years ago with their two sons Dayton and Aiden. The family share their home with 2 dogs and 2 cats. In her spare time Leeanne likes to walk and is also very artistic. She uses pencil as her medium for animal portraits and oils for landscapes.
Tiffany
TiffanyAnimal Health Technician
Tiffany has been an Animal Health Technician for 7 years. After graduating from St Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario in 2004, Tiffany completed her practicum in the Health Unit of the Toronto Zoo. Tiffany was born and raised in Kimberley, BC. She joined the Tanglefoot team in May of 2011. Tiffany’s family consists of her partner Clayton and 5 yr old daughter Carmyn. They share their home with 2 dogs and 2 cats. In her spare time Tiffany likes to camp, swim and more recently discovered a love for Kayaking.
Shelly
ShellyAnimal Health Technician
Shelley has been an Animal Health Technician for 15 years. She graduated from SIAST in Saskatoon. Shelley and her partner Lucas moved to Cranbrook 4 years ago to enjoy the many outdoor activities available here. They share their home with son Wyatt and baby #2 on the way in December, 3 cats and two dogs. Shelley will be taking some time off in 2014 to spend time with her new baby but will becoming back to Team Tanglefoot late in the year.
Lisa
LisaBook Keeper
Lisa is the behind the scenes book keeper at Tanglefoot Vet Services. She has been part of the team since before the doors opened. You might see her passing through and you will know her by her big smile and bright blue eyes. Lisa loves to ride English and usually has a number of horses living at her place as well as her mini donkeys. Lisa and her husband Dave share their home with “Caesar” their Great Dane and the barn cat.
Jacquie
JacquieThe Helper
Jacquie volunteers for Tanglefoot Vet Services twice a week and helps out wherever she is needed. Jacquie and her Husband Lloyd moved to Cranbrook 9 years ago leaving Regina SK and 30 years of running a boarding stable behind. Jacquie still keeps a strong involvement with horses as her son is a professional Morgan trainer in the USA. Always busy, Jacquie has given lots of time to the local Maverick Riding Club and gives a few riding lessons as well.
