Alternative Therapy
At Tanglefoot Veterinary clinic we are pleased to offer alternative treatments and therapies used in the care and treatment of animals, often in conjunction with or as an alternative to conventional veterinary medicine. The veterinarians practicing these modalities have completed extensive training in addition to their DVM.

These alternative therapies can encompass a wide range of practices, philosophies, and modalities, including but not limited to:
Acupuncture
This traditional Chinese medicine practice involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate nerve endings and promote healing. Acupuncture can be used to treat various conditions in animals, including musculoskeletal issues, neurological disorders, and chronic pain. If the patient and condition is amenable, aquapuncture is utilized to prolong the effect of this modality.
Chiropractic Care
Similar to human chiropractic medicine, chiropractic care for animals involves manual manipulation of the spine and musculoskeletal system to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall health.
Follow-Up and Rehabilitation
Our equine veterinarians work closely with horse owners, trainers, and rehabilitation specialists to develop postoperative care plans and rehabilitation programs tailored to the individual needs of the horse. Follow-up appointments and rechecks are scheduled to monitor the horse’s progress, assess healing, and make any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.
It’s important to note that while many pet owners and veterinarians find value in alternative therapies, these practices may not always have a strong scientific basis or evidence of efficacy. As such, it’s essential to work with a qualified veterinarian who is knowledgeable about both conventional and alternative medicine to ensure the best possible care for your pet.
