Medical Imaging

At Tanglefoot Veterinary Services, we are fortunate to have several forms of medical imaging available to our equine patients. These diagnostic tools help us visualize internal structures, organs, and bones that provide valuable information to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions and decide if referral is necessary for further treatment care.

Digital Radiography and Ultrasound

We utilize mobile and stationary imaging tools to evaluate bone and soft tissue health both in the field and at our facility:

  • Digital Radiography (DR): Mobile units provide high-quality X-ray images in the field to assess bone structures.

  • Ultrasonography: Used for imaging soft tissues, organs, and fluid-filled structures.

  • Reproductive Imaging: We utilize a rectal ultrasound machine for in-field reproductive examinations.

  • Detailed Evaluations: Our in-clinic ultrasound units allow for detailed assessments of the abdomen and tendons.

Endoscopy and Performance Imaging

Our diagnostic tools include specialized equipment to visualize internal systems and address performance limitations:

  • Endoscopy: We utilize 1-meter and 3-meter endoscopes to examine the respiratory and gastric systems.

  • Pro-Stride Therapy: This unit enables the diagnosis and treatment of joint and tendon conditions.

  • Clinical Analysis: These tools assist in identifying issues that impact a horse’s quality of life and athletic career.

Collaborative Diagnostic Care

Once medical imaging is acquired, we provide further support through professional consultations and referrals.

Referral Relationships: We maintain working relationships with partnering referral practices for our horse patients.

Specialist Consultations: Our veterinarians consult with board-certified specialists to review imaging results and determine the appropriate path of care.
